About the speaker
Terje R. Pedersen, MD, is a certified specialist of internal medicine and cardiology. He is currently Professor of Medicine (preventive cardiology) at the University of Oslo, Norway, and Head of the Centre of Preventive Medicine at Oslo University Hospital, Ullevål.
Professor Pedersen has been the principal investigator on several major clinical trials such as The Norwegian Timolol Trial, the Scandinavian Simvastatin Survival Study (4S), the Incremental Decrease in Endpoints through Aggressive Lipid Lowering (IDEAL) study to determine whether lowering of cholesterol beyond what was achieved in the 4S is beneficial
for patients with coronary heart disease, and the Simvastatin and Ezetimibe in Aortic Stenosis (SEAS) study to investigate the effect of cholesterol lowering in patients with aortic valve stenosis. He is currently involved in several large-scale clinical trials in preventive cardiology as a member of the Steering Committee and Data Safety and Monitoring Board.
